Second One-Day Workshop on Self Assessment Report (SAR) Writing for Program Team Members and Focal Persons at MTI-GKMC/BKMC Swabi Published 24 November, 2022 Press Release Quality Enhancement Cell, MTI-GKMC/BKMC, Swabi Second One-Day Workshop on Self Assessment Report (SAR) Writing for Program Team Members and Focal Persons at MTI-GKMC/BKMC Swabi In continuation to the workshop, conducted last week, on Self Assessment Report (SAR) writing, a second workshop was organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Gajju Khan Medical College (GKMC) Swabi, today on 14th September 2022. The workshop was attended by Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and demonstrators/lecturers from the college and the attached teaching hospital – Bacha Khan Medical Complex Shah Mansoor. Prof Dr. Ishtiaq (Head of Medical Education Department) and Dr. Mohammad Khalid (Director Quality Enhancement Cell) were the resource persons for this workshop. To enhance the quality of medical education in the country, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) instructed all the universities to assess their respective affiliated medical institutions against a set of criteria developed by HEC. As per instructions of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, the process of Self-Assessment has already been initiated in GKMC Swabi. These workshops are part of the capacity-building process on self-assessment for the teaching faculty of the college. The opening session of workshop was also attended by the Dean MTI-GKMC/BKMC Swabi, Prof Dr Shams-ur-Rahman. He appreciated the efforts of QEC team of the college for organizing and successfully conducting the workshop. He also lauded Prof Dr Ishtiaq Khan for his professional contributions to the institution, especially Quality Enhancement. The Director QEC, Dr Mohammad Khalid welcomed all the participants and made a presentation on how to design and organize curriculum for the MBBS program of the college. He also involved the participants in group activity to develop objectives and outcomes for their respective courses, while maintaining its alignment to the program’s objectives. In the second session, the requirements to meet the third criterion of SAR: Laboratory and Computing Facilities, were shared with the participants. the discussion was made to assess the availability and accessibility of all the required equipment, apparatus and computing systems in different laboratories of the college and its attached teaching hospital. At the end of the workshop, the Director QEC (Dr Mohammad Khalid) thanked the resource person Prof Dr Ishtiaq Khan for his dedication and commitment. He also thanked all the participants for their keen interest and active participation in the workshop. He also shared that next workshop of its series will tentatively be conducted on 21st September, 2022 and in each such workshop one or two criteria and its relevant standards will be covered (In Sha Allah).
